Chhattisgarh's first People Biodiversity Register released...

Raipur : The People's Biodiversity Register of Tourenga gram Panchayat was formally releassed recently at the function held in Mainpur village of Raipur district. The PBR publication aims to promote conservation and sustainable use of local biodiversity. The 1447.79 hectares of  Tourenga panchayat was extensively  surveyed by WTI (Wildlife  Trust of India) since April 2018. 

A technical support group (TSG) ,constituting subject experts from differrent fields was also formed to help constitute the report. The publication was financially supported by the Chhattisgarh's forest department and Oracle. The Chief Guest of the event  was Sanjay Ojha, APCCF & member secretary of Chhattisgarh's Biodiversity Board and Event was chaired by K.K. Bisen, Field Director Udanti-Sitanadi Tiger Reserve Bhagat. DFO Gariaband forest division and RK Rayasth, deputy director USTR were also present along with the assistant Director, forest range officer's and BMC members.

The publication also includes the traditional knowledge held by local vaidya's, hakim's, health care  practitioners for human, livestock, fisheries and forestry.
